For the 2020-2021 school year, Kentfield Invests in Kids (KIK) has committed $1 million to the students of Bacich and Kent schools. With these funds, KIK helps to support educational opportunities and offers programs that benefit 100% of students at Bacich and Kent.

The Annual Commitment helps give KSD the flexibility to allocate funds to various programs between Bacich and Kent including, but not limited to:

  • Student-focused Educational Programs (examples include Lucy Calkins Reader-Writer Workshop, Eureka Math, Big Ideas Modeling Real Life Math, district-wide book read and social justice integration, Culturally Responsive Education, Argumentative Writing for Science and Math)

  • Site Specific Safety Plan Preparation (examples include tents to create outdoor classrooms if/when possible, additional plexiglass partitions, increased number of hand-washing stations, and any additional Covid-19 safety-related equipment and support above and beyond what has already been provided by the state, county and district)
  • Social Emotional Support (examples include Kimochis, Mindfulness Program, Brain Breaks by Pure Edge, SuperFlex)

  • Continued Instructional Assistance from Paraprofessionals to support small or whole groups in distance, hybrid, or in-person learning

  • Interactive Distance Learning Apps and Licenses (examples include Newsela, Google Classroom, SeeSaw, Zearn, NearPod, Lexia, Reflex Math, Dreambox, and various digital books)
  • KIK has Supported Award-winning Programs in Art, Music, PE, Library, Technology, STEM/ Maker, Spanish, Enterprise, Woodshop, Drama, Journalism, and Service Innovation. KIK will continue to support enrichment programs offered during this unprecedented school year.

Fund-a-Need Grants for this school year, separate from the KIK Annual Commitment, help support school community initiatives such as digital platforms, library enhancements, and unique tools to supplement student learning. KIK is the funding arm of the 2020-21 Fund-a-Need program and has partnered with the Kentfield Schools PTA (KSPTA) to administer the grant award process to realize special projects and make supplies available to our school community. KIK appreciates the Fund-a-Need Donors who generously gave last spring for this school year’s grants. See list of donors at right column.

Parents and members of the community can submit a proposal for a grant with school administration sponsorship. Grants will continue to be funded throughout the school year. The following has been funded to start the 2020-21 school year:

For over forty years, KIK has raised nearly $30 million for our students and schools. Through our collective KIK-giving, we can continue to support our schools with what is needed during this extraordinary time. Let’s help teachers to stay student-focused —keeping our children earnestly engaged, successful, and safe whether in-person, distance learning or both. KIK support of enrichment programs, to some extent, continues in whatever form they may take.

While this is an uncertain time for our schools and our community, what is certain is that KIK will be here to stand for, and support, our students and schools.

Let's KIK This Together!

Thank you to our families, business partners + community for your support
